High Point Academy’s Middle School is composed of grades five through eight. We currently serve approximately 425 students. Two different teachers teach fifth-grade students throughout the day. One for English Language Arts and Social Studies, and the other for Math and Science. Sixth through eighth-graders attend six classes each day over ten different periods.
Throughout these classes, students are served with a double block of ELA and Math. Each student attends two Academic Arts classes each day. Academic Arts classes include chorus, theatre, S.T.E.A.M., keyboarding, coding, art, piano, sign language, physical education, and dance. Students also have a lunch period and advisement. Advisement is a class HPA developed for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders to focus on skills they need to be successful academically and as productive citizens. During this time we may invite in speakers, we may work on study skills, or attend weekly clubs. Options of clubs include Zen, Kickball, Red Cross Club, and Academic Games Club. An “honors” track is also offered to those students who meet qualifications. Our teachers work to integrate various aspects of S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) into their classrooms. High Point Academy is 1:1 in technology at the middle school level. Each student is provided with a school-issued laptop starting in sixth grade.
In addition to the clubs, students also have opportunities for extracurricular activities like athletics, Beta Club, musical theatre productions, talent shows, and much more!
