Grizzlies Down Eagles in Extra Time

It took a little longer than normal, but the Varsity Grizzlies Soccer Team came out on top in a hard fought battle against the Chesnee Eagles. While it took both five minute periods of extra time to get the win, the Grizzlies managed to get the win 1-0 over the Eagles. The lone goal of the match came from senior midfielder Walker Sharpe. The next game for the varsity team will be Monday, March 23 as HPA takes on Spartanburg Christian Academy at home. Game time will be 5:30.

JV Grizzly Soccer Gets First Win of Season

The Grizzly JV soccer team notched its first victory of the regular season as they defeated the Spartanburg Vikings C team on Tuesday night. Freshman Yelisey Shevchuk scored the only goal of the game off of a corner kick assist from Will Poplawski, as the Grizzlies won 1-0. The next JV game will be against Oakbrook Prep on Friday, March 13th at home (2427 Bryant Rd, Chesnee). Match time is 5:00 pm.

Grizzlies fall in first region game

The varsity soccer team lost in its first ever region game to the Dixie Hornets 6-2. High Point’s goals were scored by freshman Will Poplawski, and senior Walker Sharpe. The next varsity game will be Thursday, March 12 at 5:30 as the Grizzlies take on the Chesnee Eagles at the Bryant Road Complex.

Soccer Tryouts

Any 7th-12th-grade student who is interested in playing soccer during the upcoming season should attend tryouts on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, January 27th through the 29th. Students may drive to the Bryant Road facility (2427 Bryant Road, Chesnee, SC 29316), or buses will also transport students after school. Students riding the bus should meet immediately after school at the red square. Tryouts will last until 6:00 pm each day. Students should be picked up at the Bryant Road location. If players are playing another sport (basketball or wrestling) and cannot attend, they must contact Coach Davis and let him know they are interested in playing.

2020 Season Practice Begins

Soccer practice for the upcoming season will start on Monday, January 13. Practices will be Monday through Friday from 3:45 until 6:00pm. Players interested in participating must have a physical on file with the athletic office before participating. This is for grades 7th -12th, girls and boys.

Grizzly Soccer Lose Tough One In Season's Last Game

The HPA Grizzly Soccer Team took on its toughest challenge yet as they traveled to Oakbrook Prep to take on the Knights’ varsity team for their final game of the season. While the Grizzlies showed great heart and determination, it was just not meant to be, as the multiple time SCISA state champions won easily, 11-1. The lone goal for the Grizzlies was scored by team leading scorer Jackson Underwood. The High Point Academy soccer team finished the season 8-5 in only its second year of existence.

HPA soccer bounces back at Chapman

The High Point Academy soccer team avenged one of their losses on Monday as they took on the Chapman High in Inman. The Grizzlies went home with the victory 3-1 over the Panthers. Jackson Underwood, Walker Sharpe, and Donovan Sims all scored a goal each in the victory. The Grizzlies face a tough challenge Tuesday as they travel back to Oakbrook Prep to play the school’s varsity team at 7:30 in the second game of back-to-back games.

Grizzlies lose heart-breaker in Greenville

The Grizzly soccer team suffered a tough loss to the Carolina Trojans on Thursday, April 11, as they fell by a final score of 4-3. The Grizzlies held the lead going into the final minute of the game only to have the Trojans score the game-winner just seconds before the final whistle. HPA takes on Chapman Monday, April 15 at 5:00 pm at Chapman.

Historic Win For Grizzly Soccer Team

The Grizzlies made history Tuesday night as they beat the Chesnee High School Varsity team, 2-1 at the Bryant Road Complex.
Leading the Grizzlies with goals were Jackson Underwood (1), and Walker Sharpe (1).
The Grizzlies will take next week off for Spring Break and look to come back strong after the break. The next game is at home on Tuesday, April 9th at 5:00 pm.

Grizzlies Get Another W

The Grizzly soccer team added another tally to the win column, by defeating the Oakbrook Prep Knights 3-0. The Grizzlies were led by goals from Brockman Dittemore (1), Michael Shevchuk (1), and Will Poplawski (1).

The Grizzlies (6-4) will next take on Chesnee at home on Tuesday, March 26th at 5:00 at the Bryant Road location.

Grizzlies Roll Against Rainbow Lake

On Monday, the Grizzlies won in a dominant performance over Rainbow Lake Middle by a score of 6-0. The Grizzlies were led by Jackson Underwood who had 3 goals. Also scoring for HPA were Ethan Brisken (1), Walker Sharpe (1), and 7th grader, Michael Shevchuk (1). The Grizzlies will next travel to Oakbrook Prep on Thursday (March 21)  to play the Knights.

Grizzlies Bounce Back At Home

The Grizzlies rebounded from Tuesday night’s loss at home, by defeating the Byrnes Rebels on Thursday by a score of 5-0. The Grizzlies were led by 8th grader, Will Poploawski with three goals. Additional goals were scored by freshman midfielder Cruz Perez and 7th grader Brockman Dittemore. The Grizzlies will get back at it on Monday, March 18, as they take on Rainbow Lake Middle School at 5:00 pm at the Boiling Springs 9th-grade campus.

JV Soccer Falls to CHS

The Grizzlies fell in their home opener against the Chapman Panther 3-1 on Tuesday. The lone goal for the Grizzlies was scored by Walker Sharpe. The next game for HPA will be Thursday (3/14) night at home against Byrnes. The match time is  5:00 pm.

Grizzlies defeat Eagles on the road.

The Grizzly Soccer team scored another victory on the road as they defeated the Eagles 10-0 in Chesnee Tuesday night. The Grizzlies were led by team-leading goal scorer Jackson Underwood (4), along with goals from Ethan Brisken (3), Carter Bellew (1), Walker Sharpe (1), and rounding out the scoring was Yelisey Shevchuk (1). The next game will be the Grizzlies first home game as they take on the Chapman Panthers, on Tuesday, March 12th at the BSYAA Complex on Bryant Rd. We hope to see you there!

Bounce Back Win For Grizzly Soccer Team

The soccer team bounced back from a tough loss on Tuesday, with an 8-1 win over Byrnes C team.
The Grizzlies were led in scoring by Will Poplawski, who had a hat trick, as did Jackson Underwood. Adding goals were Carter Bellew and Ethan Brisken, both with their first of the season.
Congrats Grizzlies on a job well done!

JV Soccer Falls to CHS

The High Point Academy Grizzly Soccer team fell to the Carolina High Trojans, Tuesday night, in a hard-fought 3-2 loss. The Grizzlies were led by goals from 8th-grader Will Poplawski, and sophomore Jackson Underwood in the loss. They play again Thursday (Feb. 28) at Brynes. Match time is 5:00 p.m.
