HPA Grizzly Box LogoDear High Point Academy Families,

As we finalize our details for all students to return to school for the 2020-2021 school year, we want to send out information for our HPA Virtual Academy. We intend to release our full plan before the end of the week (July 24). The deadline to register your student for the virtual academy is Friday, July 31, 2020. Please submit a separate form for each student attending the virtual academy.

High Point Academy is offering families a virtual option for all students that will allow students to stay home and receive instruction off-campus by a certified HPA teacher. We will use the platform ZOOM for all live classes. Instruction will take place with accountability measures in place to ensure progress monitoring and academic growth. Students enrolled in the virtual academy will be provided a school-issued Chromebook.

Elementary virtual students will receive live, grade-level, personalized, daily instruction that closely mirrors the instruction occurring within the face to face classroom. Teachers, both in person and virtually, will be following the same curriculum to ensure smooth transitions. Each student will be expected to virtually attend school during the regular school hours. Instruction will be delivered in a quality manner by certified HPA teachers. Teachers will cover the same standards required during a typical school year, will give feedback and assessments, and will build community within the virtual classroom.

Middle and High school students will be required to attend live classes in combination with completing daily assignments through the Google Classroom platform. Deadlines and assignments must be completed in a timely manner. Middle and high school students who choose to join the virtual academy will log in via ZOOM to live classes occurring at HPA. Students will live stream classes according to the model (face-to-face or hybrid) currently being used on campus.  For example, when students are on campus 5 days a week, virtual students will be required to log-in daily to live classes. When students on campus are on the hybrid model, virtual students will log in to live classes following the hybrid model schedule. Students who enlist in the virtual academy will be required to come to the building to complete state assessments. We will inform families of these dates prior to the beginning of the school year.

Families who opt for the Virtual Academy will be required to make a semester-long commitment.
