This school year HPA has adopted the phrase “attitude is everything,” and that motto is the key to success in Mrs. Melissa Brown’s classroom. She is our Elementary School Spotlight for November.

Mrs. Brown is in her fifth year at High Point Academy in our Special Education Department. She teaches students in kindergarten through third-grade. Her goal, each day, is for all of her students to feel successful. “My classroom offers a positive learning environment where everyday is a new day, no matter what kind of day the student had the prior day,” Mrs. Brown said. “A positive attitude is the key to a successful classroom, especially when challenges may arise.”

Mrs. Brown knows every student in her classroom can be successful. “I believe it is important as a teacher to see the ability, not the disability, that the student may present.”

When she isn’t teaching, Mrs. Brown enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. She enjoys watching her youngest son run cross country and track, and her oldest compete in CrossFit. Mrs. Brown is a tremendous asset to our elementary school family.
