High Point Academy’s Lady Grizzly Volleyball team defeated Ridge Spring-Monetta on Wednesday night to advance to the upper state volleyball final. The Region IA champs took down the Trojans in three straight sets, 25-11, 25-17, and 25-10. This is the first time in school history the team has moved past the third round.
They will now travel to Hartsville on Monday (11/4) to face SC Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics. The match time is 6:00 P.M. on the Governor’s School campus. Read more about the third round victory below.
During the second set of High Point’s 1A volleyball match against Ridge Spring-Monetta on Wednesday, the Grizzlies’ Taniah Wilkins had to call on her other set of sports skills.Wilkins, an All-State basketball player and the Herald-Journal Player of the Year, took careful aim at a ball stuck in the ceiling, shot another volleyball more than 20 feet in the air, and freed the game ball from its temporary prison on her third try.High Point coach Shannon McDonald had an easy explanation
