High Point Academy Spartanburg is excited to announce ‘Black Panther’ actor and student advocate Cyrus Birch as this year’s keynote speaker during Graduation Ceremonies. The event will happen Thursday, May 23 at 7:00 P.M. in the Performing Arts Center.

High Point Academy | Spartanburg, SC

Black Panther is an American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character. Birch played the role of an African warrior of the Jabari tribe in the 2018 box-office smash.

Before his acting career, Birch worked for more than a decade as a dropout prevention coordinator, behavioral interventionist and youth advocate. He serves as the President of Roses in Concrete, a nonprofit organization that focuses on youth empowerment through leadership and career development. Birch is a graduate of Spartanburg Methodist College and the University of North Carolina. Birch is a native of Charleston, SC and a graduate of present-day West Ashely High School.

The 2019 group of graduates is just the second class to earn diplomas from High Point Academy. We are excited to present diplomas to 60 graduates. In the fall, 47 of them will continue their education at a two or four-year college or university.

Congratulations to Class of 2019!
