Juniors Selected For Palmetto Girls & Boys State

Congratulations to High Point Academy Spartanburg rising seniors Vassilia Tsabunieris, DaJuan Green, and Caleb McKee on their selection to Palmetto Girls and Boys State. They will represent HPA during a week-long program created to educate outstanding students about state and local government and citizenship. Junior, Ashley Jeffcoat was also selected as an alternate delegate. She will represent HPA in the event our delegate is not able to attend.

Attendees experience governmental procedure by simulating political campaigns, elections, and the political process. They also learn about the principles of citizenship and public service from guest speakers, expert panels and staff members. The delegates are selected for the program based on the leadership skills and involvement they have shown in their respective schools and communities. As citizens of Palmetto Girls/Boys State, the delegates are divided into groups called “cities.” They will create local governments, devise political party platforms and ultimately elect a Senate, a House of Representatives, and state constitutional officers.

 

It is an honor to be chosen as a delegate to represent your school with other high schoolers from across the state of South Carolina.
