Dear High Point Academy parents, guardians, and stakeholder,

High Point Academy | Spartanburg, SCHigh Point Academy Superintendent Christy Junkins announced that she will be joining the Charter Institute at Erskine, a statewide authorizer of charter schools. While Ms. Junkins will be greatly missed at HPA, we join in Ms. Junkins’ excitement that she will become a member of the Charter Institute at Erskine team where she will have the opportunity to work with charter school administrators statewide to improve instruction and increase student achievement. The Board is pleased that when Ms. Junkins voluntarily submitted her resignation, she agreed to continue to serve as HPA’s Superintendent until the end of the 2018-2019 school year.

The Board is grateful for the time and talents that Ms. Junkins shared with HPA as its Superintendent.  Ms. Junkins led HPA through a time of tremendous growth as she served as Elementary School Principal during the 2015-2016 school year, Interim Superintendent during the 2016-2017 school year, and as Superintendent since July 1, 2017.  Ms. Junkins’ leadership brought HPA academic growth, strong relationships with our community, and a culture built on the school’s principles of honor, integrity, and service.

Memorable highlights of Ms. Junkins’ service include her participation in HPA’s inaugural graduation ceremony and a historic deal that allowed HPA to purchase its current building and the surrounding land.  Remarkably, HPA is the first charter school in South Carolina to receive a credit rating (Ba1) through Moody’s Investors Service and only the second charter school in the state to receive a credit rating.  The Board is appreciative of and recognizes Ms. Junkins’ service to HPA, her tireless work ethic, and her passion for education.

As we look to the next chapters in HPA’s story, the Board will be establishing a Superintendent search committee and will undertake a search to identify HPA’s next Superintendent.  The Board is excited about the bright future of HPA and looks forward to continued academic and educational success at HPA.
