High Point Academy | Spartanburg SC

Teachers and staff at High Point Academy Spartanburg are excited to host this year’s STEAM Night on Thursday, March 21. The event focuses on science, technology, engineering, art, and math. This is an opportunity for HPA families to enjoy a variety of activities and to explore different S.T.E.A.M. phenomena. Students at all levels will display short, interactive projects.

In elementary students will guide visitors on a journey to space to create cycles, systems, and relationships between the earth, moon, and sun. The activity uses 14-foot earth and scale-size moon. Experience eclipses, seasonal and lunar cycles, the creation of winds, day and night cycles, rotation vs. revolution, comparing the physical characteristics of the earth, moon and sun, gravity, tides, the order of the planets, and more. Students will also conduct different types of S.T.E.A.M. experiences and lessons inside their classrooms.

In middle school, students will explain the “unexplainable.” Throughout the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade hallways visitors can stop in and watch short displays of interactive projects. The integrated demonstrations encourage students to think more broadly and creatively about real-world problems. These middle schoolers use inquiry, curiosity, and being able to find solutions to non-Googleable questions.

High school students will present over 100 different events, all inside the HPA Center. Presentations will challenge our understanding of the world as we understand it. Many of the S.T.E.A.M. projects will seem more like magic tricks. Visitors can also participate in a “Dunk on a Champion” or “Shoot a three like a champion” contests with our state championship basketball team.. State champ shirts will also be on sale.
We look forward to seeing everyone on March 21st.
