High Point Academy | Spartanburg, SCHigh Point Academy Spartanburg’s Elementary Teacher Spotlight for February is Kindergarten Teacher Mary Kimbrell. This is her fourth year at HPA and her eleventh year overall. Hands-on learning is a vital part of Mrs. Kimbrell’s classroom. Students get opportunities to experience this approach every day as they learn new concepts and build on skills they already have. Educating the youngest students has been her passion from the beginning. “I love teaching kindergarten and giving my students a firm foundation for their educational career. I want to foster a love for school and learning in each child. I love to watch young children’s minds soak in all of the new information they receive and build on that throughout the school year. Many students come to kindergarten only knowing a few letters and sounds, and by the end of the school year they are reading and writing”, says Kimbrell.

For the past 13 years, Mrs. Kimbrell has been married to her high school sweetheart, Jason. They have two children Grant and Hanna. Both attend HPA. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and reading.
