i-Ready Assessment

To examine the predictability and further strengthen our utility of the i-Ready assessment tests given to students, the test vendor is offering to conduct a linking study between our i-Ready results and South Carolina state assessments like the SC Ready and SC PASS. This opportunity will improve our understanding of results, and allow us to better identify supports, augmentation, and even needed programmatic adaptation at a school, grade, classroom, or even student level.

What is i-Ready?

i-Ready is an online program developed to help our educators assess individual needs and monitor progress throughout the school year for kindergarten through eighth-grade students. The lessons are fun and interactive, with games and characters to keep students engaged. Research shows, students who use i-Ready more than 45 minutes per week grew 44% in reading and 65% in math. Elementary students will have scheduled weekly sessions. Middle school students are encouraged to work independently as part of the incentive program. Work can be done at home through the i-Ready website. Students can get log-in information from their homeroom teachers.

Assessment Excitement

We are excited to be a part of leading the way in South Carolina on the use and capability of the i-Ready assessment. This is something already being done in other states across the country. In order to complete this linking study, the vendor research team must collect our historical data. Although this is allowable under state and federal requirements around data privacy and protection, we wanted to share this decision and excitement with you. All data shared will be de-identified, transmitted, and stored in a secure and protected way, and we will ensure the establishment of a data security and sharing agreement with the vendor. We take very seriously our obligation to protect your student’s data and the privacy of their educational records. If you have any questions about this agreement, about the process, or about your rights under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), please do not hesitate to contact the school at 864.316.9788.
