  • Posted on:  September 13, 2018

HPA will operate on a regular school schedule for Monday, September 17. We will continue to monitor weather conditions and if the situation changes we will announce any updates as quickly as possible. The Red Cross shelter inside the HPA Center will close at 7:00 A.M. Monday morning. Thank you to those families, who reached out to the school offering to help with the shelter.

SEPTEMBER 13 UPDATE:

On Friday, September 14 at 6:00 P.M. the HPA Center will be activated as an emergency shelter for evacuees from Hurricane Florence. The shelter will be set up and manned by Spartanburg County Emergency Management and the American Red Cross.

Please know the safety of our students and staff is always our highest priority. We will activate our safety plan for this situation and have not made any decisions to change our regular school schedule at this time. The shelter area will be locked down at 4:00 P.M. on Friday and will not be accessible to any students and staff. Anyone using the shelter will not have access to any part of the school at any time. The school will have additional 24-hour security from local law enforcement while the shelter is active. Parents and guardians who have concerns should always make the best decision for their family.

We will continue to monitor forecasts and the path of Hurricane Florence as it impacts our area. Should the situation change we will announce any updates as quickly as possible. Please continue to follow our web page and social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Now is a good time to make sure your contact information is up-to-date in PowerSchool.
