I can hardly believe it’s already time for volleyball tryouts again, but I am so excited about this season and all that it will bring! Tryouts are staying the same as what was initially given out on the schedule. We will be in the volleyball center Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (July 30th, 31st, and August 1st), from 6-7:30pm.
All three days are required. If you have a conflict, we ask that you make every effort to make an adjustment. If nothing can be changed, then we need to be made aware ahead of time so that we know your athlete is not simply “skipping” a day. If we do not know, then we are left to make our own assumptions and skipping a day of tryouts would not reflect positively so please be diligent in your communication.
Athletes need to be there before 6pm so that they can change shoes and do whatever they need to in order to be ready to start warmups promptly at 6p. My philosophy is always 15 minutes before is on time, and “on time” is late. We will be running through various drills to see all of the skill sets needed for volleyball. We want to get the most well-rounded picture of each girl as we can before making final decisions.
We WILL be making cuts on Wednesday evening. Tryouts will go from 6-7pm and then we will begin calling girls in one at a time to a separate space to discuss if they’ve made a team or not. No athletes will be allowed to re-enter the waiting space after talking with the coaches to ensure privacy for ALL athletes.
PARENTS, PLEASE BE AT THE GYM BY 7:15PM ON WEDNESDAY SO THAT YOUR ATHLETE CAN LEAVE IMMEDIATELY AFTER MEETING WITH US. If we have a bunch of girls waiting for their rides, then that defeats the purpose of offering privacy for them all. Cuts can be a very sensitive time, so please be attentive to that for all athletes by being there ahead of time.
We will begin with middle school and work our way up to high school. We hope to be done with cuts no later than 7:45p that evening. Please be patient with us as we want to give constructive feedback to every athlete. However, we will work to keep our meetings to no more than 5 minutes.
If any new athletes are planning to try out, but have not been at any summer workouts, we MUST have a physical on file, so you need to have that done before arriving for tryouts.
I Look forward to a great few days of tryouts and kicking off this season with a bang!
